"For my paintings, many a time I see them in dreams and visions before I actually paint them. So in the morning I organize my materials and start painting."
Artist K. Baka has been featured in Red Herring magazine.
"My name is Kwabena Kufuor Afriyie-Addo Jr. (also known as K. Baka). I was born on Tuesday, July 2, 1968 in the eastern region of Ghana. My father is Benjamin Kwabena Kufuor Afriyie-Addo and my mother is Nancy Afriyie-Addo.
"When I was a child, I used to draw a lot. I was so interested in art that in school it was the subject I got the highest marks for. Actually, it was a gift - a talent. I later entered art college for a three year diploma in art. After graduation, I established my studio in the house. While in school, I was painting and selling, so after school I did not need to undergo any brush-up or polishing. I do paintings, craftwork, billboards, screen-printing and signboards. In 1997, I had 20 students whom I taught painting, batik, and textile making. Also, many art students come to me for brushing or polishing. Presently I have two apprentices.
"My paintings are natural, and I try to use inexpensive but high-quality material like calico, denim, military camp tents, and heavy curtain cloths. I find they are stronger than canvas. It also makes it possible to sell my works to a larger audience. I use acrylic paint because it dries faster and it lasts longer. I use phone cards for the painting instead of brushes because it gives me the effect that I want. For my paintings, many a time I see them in dreams and visions before I actually paint them. So in the morning I organize my materials and start painting.
"I am not a rastafarian. What I am wearing are simply dreadlocks. I am not married but I have a young son."
The Batik Wall hanging is absolutely wonderful. The colors are vibrant and alive. I wish you continued luck and good fortune with your career
I have just received the wall hangings “Faanaa Yei” and “Fertility Doll” by K. Baka. They were really beautiful and packaged very well. Thank you very much also for your card. ""See"" you soon.

A few months ago, I purchased the BOTISWAMI FISHMARKET, a large painting by K. BAKA done in 2001. I fell in love with the painting on the website, and decided to re-decorate my living area with many of the items I collected on my last trip to Africa. Before taking this step, I purchased this last painting through Novica! My fireplace wall is now painted the color of the ""fish"" in the market in the painting. Now, this large painting, stretched over a simple wooden frame, hangs as the only piece of art on that wall. It makes my spirits soar every time I look at it! As it dominates this space, I love the fact that it represents the simplicity, as well as the complexity, of this African seaside custom and culture. I later purchased one of K. Baka's wall hangings, a batik done in blues of a woman getting water from a well. I gave it to my daughter for Christmas in 2003, and she just loved it! I was so pleased when I looked at her face as she unrolled it! I have pictures of both of the purchases, and would love to share them with you. Sincerely, Nancy Milligan
I forgot to thank you so much for such wonderful work. I was a teacher and counselor for many years in the schools, and I think that it is very important that you are teaching and using your talent and experience in mentoring young (or older!) artists! Sincerely yours, Nancy L. Milligan I notice your mother and I share the same name. I think that is a good luck sign!
We received a wonderful batik from Mr. Baka. Highly recommended artist.

Baka, I say thank you for sharing your talents with those of us who have only the ability to appreciate. I selected the batik wall hanging, ""Sweet Mama."" I purchased Elephant Child. Not only is it more beautiful in person, it also creates a great energy in the room. It is officially the coolest thing on my wall, and I have lots of cool things on my walls. I highly recommend this exquisite tapestry to anyone who loves elephants like I do.

FINDING YOUR SIZE
Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. Inseam, skirt and dress lengths vary by style and will be listed in the item description. Our sweaters are knit in standard American sizes, however actual measurements vary by style.
BUST / CHEST
Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.
Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.
Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.
Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.
Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.
Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.
